Description

TAM
Sex : Female
Born : 1997
Status: Permanent Resident – physical disabilities
Tam, a female gibbon born in the wild in 1994, has a very difficult past. She was captured from the wild and sold in black market. Then she was kept as a pet and mistreated by her owner, later Tam was attacked by other Male gibbons resulting in injuries that required the amputation of one hand and one foot. She also has only three fingers on her remaining hand. Fortunately, in 2002, Tam was finally rescued by the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project (GRP).

Despite her physical disabilities and challenging past, Tam is a resilient gibbon who enjoys life to the fullest. She lives in a double set cages, which provide her with the support she needs to maneuver around. GRP staff must take great care of her, applying baby powder and lotion on a daily basis to prevent skin irritations and infections caused by constantly using her remaining fingers.

Tam has a unique personality and is known for her loud singing. She has a best friend named Bo, but due to her lack of social skills and past traumas, she may display aggressive behavior towards both people and other gibbons. However, Tam has made significant progress since her rescue and continues to receive care and support from the GRP staff and volunteers.

By adopting Tam, you can help support her ongoing care and contribute to the important work of the GRP. Your contribution can make a real difference in the life of this remarkable gibbon, who has shown us all that even in the face of adversity, it is possible to find happiness and fulfillment. Tam’s story is a testament to the human spirit and the power of resilience, and we are honored to have her as a permanent resident at the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project.
